About the author

Venessa Giunta is a writer of supernatural and other slightly off-beat tales. In her writing life, she’s tried to write “straight” stories. Those mainstream, slice of life vignettes. She tries. She really does! But ghosts, vampires, aliens, zombies and various other odd creatures always seem to live in the stories she tells. She’s beginning to think it’s pheromone related.

Venessa's Favorite Quotes

"There are worse crimes then burning books. One of them is not reading them." -- Joseph Brodsky

Motorcycles, Success & What’s on Deck

2. March 2008

Hope you all had a great weekend! I went to Nashville, played some roleplaying games and then today, before I left, I got to go out on my motorcycle! The weather was so beautiful. It got up over 70 degrees, the sun was shining and there were hundreds of bikes out!  I'm getting more and more comfortable on my bike, making me a lot less nervous. I've only logged about 250 miles of saddle time and about 75 of that was today, I'm guessing. I'm still a newbie rider, but I'm feeling better about it every time I go out.

This week on the blog is going to be fun, I think. I've got another WIL post in the works (it's about villains!), another book for the Steps on the Journey series, and a couple other tidbits up my sleeve! You may have noticed the new little revision tracker on the left sidebar, just below the SoJ book. That's how far along in my revisions I am for my book, Soul Cavern. Now my mentor can see exactly how far behind I am!

While I was riding, I got to thinking about success and what it means. Everyone defines success differently. I'd be lying if I didn't admit to defining writing success as being published by a reputable magazine or publishing house. I think other people define success in writing as perfecting their craft to the best of their ability. Maybe others define it as making a lot of money.

How do you define success in your writing career?
