About the author

Venessa Giunta is a writer of supernatural and other slightly off-beat tales. In her writing life, she’s tried to write “straight” stories. Those mainstream, slice of life vignettes. She tries. She really does! But ghosts, vampires, aliens, zombies and various other odd creatures always seem to live in the stories she tells. She’s beginning to think it’s pheromone related.

Venessa's Favorite Quotes

"There are worse crimes then burning books. One of them is not reading them." -- Joseph Brodsky

Editor Girl!

15. July 2008

So, I've got some news. I've been waiting to post this until it was officially official (as opposed to unofficially official).

I've taken a position as a junior editor at Loose-Id Publishing. I'm very excited about the opportunity to get into editing. Those who know me know that, long-term, I'm looking to open my own small press and magazine. I think, in addition to being able to do something I love, I'll be able to gain a lot of knowledge about e-book publishing and perhaps some print publishing as well.

Loose-Id is one of the top 3 e-book publishers out there. And they publish erotica. How fun! ;) I have several friends who publish with Loose-Id, so I already knew they were a good group of folks.

In other news... I'm having a big party this weekend that I've been busting my tail to get ready for, so I haven't had as much online time as normal (or as what I want to be normal). Once the party is done with, things will get back to a regular schedule here. I've got several WIL posts planned and, of course, we'll have more Steps on the Journey. So hang with me! Good stuff is around the corner!

While I'm cleaning my house...what would your advice be to a teenager who's interested in getting into the writing game? What sort of guidance would you give him or her?

Congrats on the editing position. That's fabulous. And I love Loose-Id. I have a few of their print volumes. Big fan of Morgan Hawke.

Enjoy your party this weekend. Looking forward to seeing more Steps on the Journey.

Woo Hoo! Congratulations, I am so proud to say I "know" you. Laughing That's some awesome news.

For a teenager, or well, honestly, any person trying to get into creative writing, I usually suggest they try to describe a room they can visually see. (As to the ones made up in our heads...Smile ) You know, describe the walls, the floor, what you see in the room, etc. I find that it is a good way to start developing creative writing and strengthening descriptive writing.

There's my 2 cents. Smile

Watsup, I don't agree with you, sorry. Possibly it's just a something wrong with me, but honestly I think it's you. My company has had a Amerigroup Coroporation Mortgage for over a really really long time and I have had nothing but great times with amerigroup. Amerigroup mortgage is been in business for over seventy years and is a memeber of the bbb. If you don't agrree I bet you don't have any good comeback.

Daniel, yea I can see what you did there. I really liked that part, but hehe I'm not that harsh like my dad with these things. He always tells me crazy stories back in the day and calls me a loser. I guess it is time I move out of my parents' basement LOL. Aaanyways, what about you? what does your dad think xD" Anyway, in my language, there are not much good source like this.
